What has particle physics contributed to mankind?

I just read up on the Higgs Boson particle, and have always found particle physics interesting, and while I know it’s essential to our understanding of the universe, can anyone tell me HOW it’s been useful to mankind?

Where are the teleporters and the gravity machines and the tachyon emitters (which as we know from Star Trek, are always useful if you can reverse them in a pinch.) Are physicists just wasting taxpayer dollars on this alleged, “research”?

They are looking for particles that can make communication instantaneous, (tachyons), being able to fold space, (travel to distant planters in days not years). There is a particle accelerator due to go on line in a few months. It will be the largest ever, over a mile in diameter. We will see what they find.
Peace
