Skiier asked:

I’m doing an assignment in which I have to write a paper on a single person in chemistry. I have to think how this person’s contributions to chemistry have affected society. I basically have to include a biography of their life (birth place, schooling), what they did that was so important to chemistry, and explain (to the best of my ability) the chemistry behind their discovery. Who’s a good chemist to write such a paper about?

Thanks.

Do it on Democritus. Most people don’t even know who he is. Everyone knows Aristotle because he said that matter was infinite, but Aristotle was wrong. Democritus proved him wrong.
