As you may already know, energy drinks contain electrolytes. The electrolytes in energy drinks are salts, but strong acids are also electrolytes. For the most part, anything that is bonded ionically is an electrolyte, but there are always exceptions, like if carbon is one of the ions, it is not an electrolyte.
