Who are some of the most important people the history of chemistry?

Skiier asked:

I’m doing an assignment in which I have to write a paper on a single person in chemistry. I have to think how this person’s contributions to chemistry have affected society. I basically have to include a biography of their life (birth place, schooling), what they did that was so important to chemistry, and explain (to the best of my ability) the chemistry behind their discovery. Who’s a good chemist to write such a paper about?

Thanks.

Tuesday, March 24th, 2009 | Physics | 2 Comments

Dan asked:

I want to relearn physics. I took high school physics but that was more than 14+ years ago and I barely remember any of it. I have a Schaums Oulines College Physics book that I recieved from my dad but it is above my head at this point. Do you have any suggestions for a good physics book to help me relearn the basics?

Are science and religion in conflict or is there a compromise?

Biinje asked:

I think Science and religion can stregthen each other, for example, Evolution theory and creation theory can go hand in hand. While Christian accounts give the outline of how God created the world, science tells exactly how it was done.

“Science without religion is lame, religion without science is blind” - Albert Einstein.

gradjimbo asked:

I am interested in PhD in Physics but since my undergraduate degree was in something else, I am planning to earn a Master’s degree before applying to PhD schools. Does anyone know any university in California with a good placement rate into a PhD program? Should I consider out of state schools?

I am interested in both biology and psychology, what would be a good major/career for me?

Sunday, March 22nd, 2009 | Biology | 3 Comments

Pickles_FTW asked:

I love biology/medicine, but I am also interested in psychology and psychological theories. I have been told that I would make a good counselor, as I am a good listener and have good logical reasoning skills. I am wondering what I should major in, as I am planning on starting back to school in the spring. I would love something where these two fields of study converge, if possible. Any ideas would be helpful. Thanks!
